Objectives and Outline of the Course
応用化学の最新の知識、研究の現状と研究・開発の方向などのトピックスを取り上げながら講述し、応用化学課程で学んでゆく方向について理解を助けることを目的とする。本講義は原則的に対面式で行う。
Current research topics in applied chemistry will be introduced as a guidance of the Applied Chemistry program. In principle, this lecture will be given face-to-face.

1. ガイダンス、安全教育(1):化学実験の心構え・有害物質の取り扱い ガイダンス(応用化学課程長・山雄 健史):本授業の予定、および応用化学課程の紹介。
安全教育1:化学実験を行う前に身につけるべき心構え,基本的な注意事項について説明する。続いて,応用化学序論Iにおいて学んだ内容(労働安全衛生・毒劇法・本学における環境安全衛生の取り組み)の重要事項を確認し,有害物質の毒性および取り扱いについて学習する。(大村 智通)
Guidance, Safety Education (1) 1. Guidance :Schedule of this class and introduction to the Applied Chemistry Course.(Takeshi Yamao, Head of Applied Chemistry Course)
2. Safety Education (1) Explanation of the preparedness and basic precautions to be taken before carrying out chemical experiments. This is followed by a review of the important content of safety learned in Introduction to Applied Chemistry I and a study of the toxicity and handling of hazardous substances. (Toshimichi Ohmura)

Safety Education (2) Safety Education (2) Learn about the flammability, explosive properties and handling of hazardous materials. This is followed by a quiz on general safety training and an explanation of the quiz to reconfirm the key points. (Toshimichi Ohmura)
3. 高分子材料デザインコース(1) 金属は、熱や電気を通すだけでなく、化学反応を促進させる作用(触媒作用)も持ち、先端材料の開拓に不可欠です。一方、高分子は、軽く柔らかく、伸縮するなど、独自の分子形状に由来した固有の性質を持ちます。本講義では、室温で融けるユニークな金属のナノ結晶を解説し、金属と高分子の優れた特性が1つに統合された材料を紹介します。具体的に、金属ナノ結晶の利用により、樹脂や繊維、ゴムなどの高分子材料が電気を流す柔らかい伸縮導体に変化する実例を示しながら、ソフトエレクトロニクス・電池・触媒・多孔体などのエネルギーや環境分野で活躍する高分子を解説します。(中⻄ 英⾏)
Polymeric Materials Design Course (1) The objective of this lecture is for students to gain an understanding of polymer and other materials. This lecture should be of very broad interest and provides examples of new material developments. 
4. 高分子材料デザインコース(2) 航空機等の輸送機器の軽量化に高分子の需要が近年高まっているが、それは軽いだけでなく高い成形性や破壊に対する抵抗といった、細長いひも状分子特有の性質を併せ持つためであり、分子の形の設計次第で高分子材料は多様な物性や機能を示す。本講義では、ひも状分子の形が材料の力学的性質に与える効果を、最新の研究を交えながら概説する。(加藤 和明)
Polymeric Materials Design Course (2) Demand for polymers has increased recently to reduce the weight of transportation equipment such as aircraft. This is because not only light but also has a high processability and resistance to fracture that are uniqueness of long string-like molecules. Depending on the design of molecular shape, various properties and functions of polymer materials can be achieved. Effects of molecular shape on mechanical properties of polymers will be reviewed.
5. 高分子材料デザインコース(3) ⽔に電気を通ずると,電気分解によって⽔素と酸素が⽣ずる。その逆の反応として,⽔素と酸素から電気を取り出すことができる。この原理から燃料電池が得られるが,この陽極と陰極を隔てる分離膜に⾼分⼦電解質膜が⽤いられる。⽔素イオンの伝導メカニズムと,⾼い伝導性発現のためのナノ材料の設計⽅法,最近の燃料電池研究について概説する。(則末 智久)
Polymeric Materials Design Course (3) When electricity is applied to water, water and oxygen are produced by electrolysis. As a reverse reaction, electricity can be extracted from water and oxygen. Based on this principle, a fuel cell is obtained, and a polyelectrolyte membrane is used as a separator between the anode and the cathode. The mechanism of proton conductivity, the design of nanomaterials for achieving excellent conductivity, and recent research on fuel cells will be reviewed.
6. 材料化学デザインコース(1) 環境発電と呼ばれるエネルギー変換技術の登場により,さまざまな電子機器が無配線給電,スタンドアローンで動く未来がやってきます。このような未来技術の実現に向けては,エレクトロニクスや伝熱工学のほか,材料化学が大きな役割を果たします。本講義では担当教員がこれまでに取り組んできた有機半導体やカーボンナノチューブへの独自の化学処理を基盤とする温度差発電(熱電変換)材料の開発について紹介します。(野々口 斐之)
Materials Chemistry Design course (1) With the advent of energy conversion technology, known as energy harvesting, a future is emerging in which various electronic devices will run wirelessly and autonomously. In addition to electronics and heat transfer engineering, materials chemistry will play an important role in the realization of such future technology. In this lecture, the faculty in charge will introduce the development of thermoelectric materials based on the unique chemical processing of organic semiconductors and carbon nanotubes.
7. 材料化学デザインコース(2) 現在の新規材料設計において量子化学計算は不可欠なツールになっています。本講義では、量子化学計算の概略やその計算で得られる情報を説明したのち、触媒材料やカーボンナノチューブ等に量子化学計算を行った研究例を紹介します。(湯村尚史) また、窒素と水からアンモニアを生成する「アンモニア社会」実現に資する触媒設計に関する研究例も併せて紹介します (中村泰司)
Materials Chemistry Design course (2) Recently, quantum chemistry calculations are a tool indispensable to design novel materials in industry. This lecture will briefly overview quantum chemistry calculations, as well as information obtained from quantum chemistry calculations. Moreover, recent studies on quantum chemistry calculations investigating catalysts and carbon nanotubes will be explained. (Takashi Yumura) Moreover, theoretical studies on the development of catalysts that convert N2 and H2O to NH3 with the aim of realizing a new-generation “ammonia-society” will be discussed. 8. 材料化学デザインコース(3) エネルギーキャリアの一つとして水素が期待されており、太陽光などの再生可能エネルギーを利用して、水を分解し水素を製造する技術が注目されています。本講義では、エネルギー問題および水分解による水素製造のための半導体光触媒材料の開発について、最近の研究トピックスを具体例として紹介します。(冨田修)持続可能な社会の構築に対して,触媒化学の分野では新材料開発による飛躍的な機能向上が切に望まれている。こうした観点から,本講義では,新しい環境触媒材料開発に対する設計指針の基礎と最近の研究事例について紹介します。(細川三郎)
Materials Chemistry Design course (3) Producing hydrogen, which is expected to be an important energy carrier, by splitting water using renewable energy such as sunlight has attracted significant attention. This lecture introduces an overview of current energy issues and presents recent research topics on the development of semiconductor photocatalyst materials for hydrogen production.(Osamu Tomita)
In the field of catalytic chemistry, functional improvement through the development of new materials is strongly desired to establish a sustainable society. From this perspective, this lecture will introduce recent case studies for various catalytic reactions using heterogeneous catalysts and the fundamentals of design guidelines for the development of new catalyst materials.(Saburo Hosokawa)
9. 分子化学デザインコース(1) 有機フッ素化学の概説:フッ素原子を有する化合物は,現在,様々な科学分野において汎用されている。本講義では,その用途の中でも医薬品ならびに農薬に焦点を絞って紹介すると共に,フッ素原子が利用される理由を,フッ素原子の効果の観点から概説する。(今野 勉)
光や電気などのエネルギーを与えると光る有機化合物について、発光の原理や合成方法、さらには機能材料としての利用例を紹介する。(清水 正毅)
Molecular Chemistry Design course (1) An overview of Organofluorine Chemistry: Organofluorine compounds are currently used in a wide variety of scientific fields. This lecture specifically focuses on pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals among their various applications, and outlines the reasons for the use of a fluorine atom from the viewpoint of its effects. This lecture introduces organic compounds that emit light when supplied with energy such as light or electricity, covering their emission mechanism, synthetic methods, and applications as functional materials.(Masaki Shimizu)
10. 分子化学デザインコース(2) 本講義では、ノーベル化学賞の対象となった触媒反応を取り上げ、炭素と炭素をつなぐしくみや古典的化学反応との違いについて解説するとともに、低環境負荷・省エネルギーでの分子創出に向けて克服すべき課題を議論します。(大村 智通)
有機化学と無機化学は、これまで全く別の物質を扱う学問としてとらえられてきた。有機物の構成元素は、主に炭素・水素・酸素・窒素であるが、周期表に存在する多彩な無機元素を有機分子中に組み込むことで、全く新しい物質が生み出される。有機と無機を融合させる手法と、それによって生まれる新機能について解説する。(井本 裕顕)
Molecular Chemistry Design course (2) Chemical reactions using catalysts are contributing to the development and production of useful organic compounds that are applied to pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and functional materials. In this lecture, I will focus on catalytic reactions that were the subject of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Mechanisms for the carbon-carbon bond formation, advantages against classical chemical reactions, and issues that need to be overcome to achieve production of molecules with low environmental impact and energy conservation will be discussed. Organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry have traditionally been viewed as separate disciplines dealing with entirely different substances. The main elements composing organic substances are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen. However, by incorporating a diverse array of inorganic elements from the periodic table into organic molecules, entirely new substances can be created. This lecture will explain the methods for integrating organic and inorganic elements and the new functions that arise from this integration. (Hiroaki Imoto)
11. 分子化学デザインコース(3) 今や我々の身の回りに無くてはならない高分子材料は、モノマーを繰り返しつなげる有機反応によって合成されており、その基本的な特性は、モノマーの構造とつながり方によって決定される。本講義では、基礎的な高分子の合成方法について解説するとともに、モノマーの構造からは想像できない構造の高分子を生み出す反応について、最近の研究例を交えて紹介する。(足立 馨)
様々なモノマーを重合することで得られる高分子化合物は、古くから使われている材料であると同時に、最先端材料としても重要な材料である。高分子材料について、基礎的な合成方法や高分子の分子構造と機能発現との関係を概説する。(本柳 仁)
Molecular Chemistry Design course (3) Polymeric materials are synthesized through organic reactions that repeatedly bond monomers. The properties of polymers are determined by their structures. This lecture will explain the basic polymer synthesis methods and introduce recent research examples of polymer design obtained from unique monomers. (Kaoru Adachi)
Polymers, which are macromolecules composed of repeating units of monomers, have long been utilized as fundamental materials in numerous fields. These polymers have a long history of application and have also led to the development of advanced materials in a wide range of disciplines. The following lecture will provide an overview of the fundamental synthetic methods employed in polymer synthesis and will elucidate the correlation between the molecular structure and the functional properties of polymer materials. 12. 機能物質デザインコース(1) 様々な生命現象は高次な生化学反応・生体高分子の集積と創発によって達成されている。生体高分子の網羅的定量解析を通じて、細胞全体を俯瞰的にとらえるデータ駆動型の研究について概説する。また、生体触媒開発の方法論として、酵母の細胞表層に目的の外来タンパク質を集積させる「酵母ディスプレイ法」について解説し、その応用例を紹介する。(黒田 浩一)
タンパク質はそれぞれ固有の立体構造を有し、構造的特徴に基づいてその機能を発揮する。本講義ではタンパク質の立体構造を決定する構造生物学的手法を説明し、立体構造と機能の相関について紹介する。(北所 健悟)
Functional Materials Design course (1) Various biological phenomena are achieved through the accumulation and emergence of higher-order biochemical reactions and biomacromolecules. Data-driven research that provides a bird’s-eye view of the entire cell through comprehensive analysis of biomacromolecules is outlined. In addition, as a methodology for developing biocatalysts, “yeast display technology”, in which target foreign proteins are accumulated on the yeast cell surface, is explained and its applications is introduced. Protein has a unique three-dimensional structure and performs its function based on its structural features. In this lecture, structural biology methods for determining protein structure will be explained and the structure and function relationship will be introduced. (Kengo Kitadokoro)
13. 機能物質デザインコース(2) 分光学とは試料に光を照射し、その応答を観測する学問である。照射する光のエネルギーの違いによって分子の電子遷移、振動-回転遷移、スピン遷移などが観測される。生命現象の多くは分光学を用いて観測され、構造と機能相関の情報を与える。授業では分光学の基本原理を概説し、機能性分子の構造や反応についての研究例を述べる。(金折 賢二・三宅 祐輔)
Functional Materials Design course (2) Spectroscopy is the study of irradiating a sample with light and observing its response. Depending on the wavelength of light, electronic transitions, vibrational-rotational transitions, spin transitions, etc. are observed. Information on the structure-function relationship of bio-related substances and functional substances can be obtained by various spectroscopic methods. In the lecture, after an overview of the basic principles of spectroscopy, examples of research on the structures and reactions of functional molecules will be presented. 14. 機能物質デザインコース(3) 抗原抗体反応を用いた免疫検査はインフルエンザやガンの検査に利用されており,臨床診断のキーテクノロジーとなっている。本講義では,遺伝子組換え抗体を用いた低コストかつ高感度な最新の免疫検査技術を中心に研究の最前線について紹介する。(熊田 陽一)
この講義では,以下の3つの環境解析研究を紹介する。①地球温暖化の影響下にある閉鎖性水域における物質動態の変化を捉えるために我々が開発している様々な解析手法,②マイクロプラスチックやパーフルオロアルキル化合物など新たな地球規模の汚染を解明する技術,③廃棄物資源循環分野で求められる環境負荷低減技術(布施 泰朗,初 雪)
Functional Materials Design course (3) Immunoassays utilizing antigen-antibody interaction are one of key technologies and they have been mainly applied in clinical diagnosis such as influenza virus detection as well as cancer diagnostics. This lecture will introduce advance in sensitive and economical immunoassays using recent recombinant technologies. (Yoichi Kumada)
Trace quantification, separation, and concentration techniques are essential tools for studying the dynamics of substances in the environment and trace amounts of toxic substances. In this lecture, the following three environmental analytical studies will be presented. (1) Various analytical methods we are developing to analyze changes in the dynamics of substances in closed water bodies under the influence of global warming, (2) Technologies for elucidating new global-scale pollution such as microplastics and perfluoroalkyl compounds, and (3) Environmental load reduction technologies required in the waste and resource recycling field. Required study time, Preparation and review
各授業に対し、講義内容に関する復習を1時間、レポ-ト作成のための学習時間や小テストに備えるための学習時間を2時間要する。
他人が作成したレポートを、自身が作成したとして提出しないこと。
本学では1単位当たりの学修時間を45時間としています。毎回の授業にあわせて事前学修・事後学修を行ってください。
This class requires not only one hour for review but also two hours for further learning to make out reports and to prepare for short tests.
Do not submit a report, which someone else has created, as if you have created by yourself.
Please note that KIT requires 45 hours of study from students to award one credit, including both in-class instructions as well as study outside classes. Students are required to prepare for each class and complete the review after each class.

成績評価の方法及び基準
Grading Policy
各講義ごとに課題が与えられるので、指示された方法に従って回答を提出すること。提出された内容を採点し、総合的に60点以上を合格とする。
Assignments will be given for each lecture (or teacher) and responses should be submitted according to the instructions given. Submissions will be graded and an overall score of 60 or above will be considered as a pass.
