応用化学分野に関する基礎事項を講述するとともに、関連する研究の現状ならびに研究開発の展開などのトピックスを取り上げながら、応用化学の考え方、応用化学に関わる研究の方法とその実際について平易に紹介することで、新入学生が応用化学を学んでゆく方針について理解し、考える端緒を与える。 |

6. | 分子化学デザインコース(2) | 1. 今や我々の身の回りに無くてはならない高分子も有機化合物のひとつであり,有機合成の手法を駆使して作られている。さまざまな高分子のもつ柔らかさ,硬さなど,高分子の分子構造に基づく特性と,高分子における分子設計について紹介する。(足立 馨) 2. 単一の性質をもつ単一機能性分子に比べて,液晶性と蛍光性,あるいは液晶性と色素性を併せもつような多機能性分子は,最も有望な有機材料の一つとして注目されている。本講では,多機能性分子を創出するための分子設計と,近年の研究例について概説する。(山田 重之) |

Molecular Chemistry Design course (2) | 1. Organic polymers are made by making full use of organic synthetic techniques. Various properties of the organic polymers based on the structure and molecular design of the organic polymers for high performance materials will be introduced. (Kaoru Adachi) 2. Multifunctional molecules, which have liquid-crystalline and fluorescent properties, or liquid-crystalline and dye properties, are attracting significant attention as one of the most promising organic materials compared to monofunctional molecules that have each property individually. Molecular Chemistry Design course (3) | 1. The part of the most important properties of π-electronic organic compounds will be explained in the class, focusing particularly on the light absorption and emission, charge carrier transport, and these changes associated with the molecular orientation. In addition, the examples of organic materials will be reviewed–liquid crystals (LCs) famous as the application for LC displays, organic semiconductors sometimes referred to as “electrically conducting plastics”. (Tsuneaki Sakurai) 2. Many organic compounds such as medicine and electronic materials, which are beneficial to our lives, are prepared by organic synthesis. Functional Materials Design course (1) | 1. An overview of the research conducted by each laboratory in Functional Materials Design course will be presented. (Kohji Maeda) 2. Disease treatment and diagnostics using nanomaterials are attracting attention as a new advanced medical technology. In this class, we will focus on nanomaterials composed of biomolecules such as peptides and proteins, and introduce their fabrication techniques and applications to disease treatment. (Tomonori Waku) 3. Based on the diversity of microorganisms, unique microbial functions have been explored, developed, and industrially utilized. In this class, the fundamentals of enzymes and examples of industrial applications of microbial enzymes will be introduced. (Michiki Takeuchi) |

Functional Materials Design coursee (2) | 1. Our life is maintained by orderly functioning various biomolecules in the body. It is also known that disturbances in the function of biomolecules can lead to the development of many diseases, including cancer. In this class, the roles of biomolecules will be briefly introduced, and research to elucidate and control the functions of biomolecules by using functional molecules with various functions will be introduced. Safety education (2) | General waste management (3R, separate collection, etc.) Special control industrial waste (experimental liquid waste, waste) Environmental Safety Management System ESMS (ISO14001) The first to third year students (undergraduate students before being assigned to a laboratory) of the University are considered as associate members of the ESMS and need to be aware of the activities related to the environmental safety of the University. These are explained in detail in this section. |

各回の復習に1時間、講義ごとに出された課題作成に1-2時間の校外学習時間を要する回もある。 本学では1単位当たりの学修時間を45時間としています。毎回の授業にあわせて事前学修・事後学修を行ってください。 |
Some sessions require one hour for reviewing each lesson and 1-2 hours of off-campus study time to prepare assignments given for each class. Please note that KIT requires 45 hours of study from students to award one credit, including both in-class instructions as well as study outside classes. Students are required to prepare for each class and complete the review after each class. |
